Fund set up jointly by the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme and the African Development Bank to provide governments with initial resources needed to build their capacity to consider the social costs of adjustment in their macroeconomic policymaking. The Fund was set up in December 1987, with initial funding of $10 million.
